This is one of the most stunning and breath-taking commercials I've seen for a long time. It may look simple but there are some details that you might miss. This is not simply a story of an Angel but a story of how Heaven and Hell comes together on Earth. If you don't get what I mean, watch the Ad again and tell me what you see. Searching though the web, I stumbled upon the blog site of Gerry Cacanindin. It turns out that he is the one who wrote/conceptualized this commercial. If you want to read up on how this thing started from a concept and turned into reality, just visit his blog site. >>> http://creepygerry.blogspot.com/2008/04/making-of-coke-angel-tv-commercial.htmlYou can also read more on his blog site: http://creepygerry.blogspot.com/Just recently, Gerry decided to put up a blog site solely dedicated to the Coke Angel, his very own creation. It's of great importance and value to him that it should not be just another commercial on TV waiting to be cut up for money's sake. Let's follow his journey with the fallen angel in his new blog site. >>> http://www.cokeangel.blogspot.com/*And for the curious, the true identity of the Coke Angel is finally revealed in the site. | Thanks, Chris. Reading comments such as yours makes all those late nights thinking up of ideas all worth it. Thanks again! |
 | You're welcome buddy! I was supposed to send you a letter of permission to link your blogsite but was a bit too tired from studying all day and searching through google looking for information about the said commercial. |
 | Just link away! I just want to share the journey with everyone as this ad is almost like my own child nowadays, I'm just proud of it. Thanks! |
 | im really fascinated by coke commercials, lahat magaleng |
 | Yep, they properly blend style, pop, rock and beauty with a dash of Filipino culture. |
 | s436 wrote on Apr 17, '08 that's absolutely amazing! :D
sucks that post production wasn't done here though. why oh why can't we have good studios like that here? x_x |
 | I really don't think that the equipment here is good enough or as sophisticated. I don't think that there's a point investing here because majority of the population don't know how to differentiate good from bad. It's also why movies here are terrible, not only in production but also in storyline especially in script. |
 | multiply said there were no videos found |
 | dunno, still didn't show up. anyway, there's youtube, watching it now.^__^ |
 | Updates!!!
Check the additional comments/description I've written above. |
 | s436 wrote on Apr 17, '08 btw, when did this commercial first appear? :) |
 | I suppose just a week ago? |
 | s436 wrote on Apr 18, '08 that recent huh? coolnezz. |

First, it's not a matter of equipment as we have the same machines here as the ones they use in Bangkok. It's more of the talent. The best and most experienced digital artists from around the world can be found in Thailand and Singapore. Why? Well, the pay is better and since Asia is still mainly a TV-driven market, more TV work is available here than say Europe or even the States. Also, many multinationals are regionally based in either Bangkok or Singapore that's why we often see ads that were shot conceptualized and shot in Thailand then aired over here with just a few adjustments.
This is not to say that Pinoy artists are inferior. Those machines they use require more than artistry. You really have to know them inside and out to get the best out of them. Filipino digital artists are still learning the machines here whereas the people working in Bangkok know every little trick the machine is capable of.
The angel wings in our commercial were rendered by a French guy, Olivier. He's one of the best CGI artists in Asia and it shows in his work.
Now why we chose Bangkok as the location of the shoot is just a matter of logistics. Since we were doing the post production in Bangkok anyway, whether we shot it here in Manila or some place else, it would be wiser to just do everything in Bangkok as that would simplify things since we were pressed to deliver by April 6 (the first time this ad aired).
Sorry, long post. I just want to make it clear we have nothing against Filipino artists. We were just after the best quality possible :) |
 | Wow, that's a real enlightenment to us. I couldn't agree more. Yes, Filipinos do have talent but we're lagging behind, way behind and the pay is not so great. So just in case you have the talent and know how, people here would rather pour their talent elsewhere where they can be paid with a healthier salary. Yep, Singapore and Thailand is now one of the centers of the industry these days that's why people flock there.
Thanks for the post, I don't mind that its long, as long as it's fruitful and informative. I rarely see posts like that these days as people only write longs blogs to rant about something. |
 | I hate tv commercials but this one really caught my attention. Very nice indeed. |
 | How about those gas stove commercials and VOS brandy (ang pang romansa)? I think everybody loves em :) |
 | White Castle Whiskey!!! Hahaha. Kyowa type kita!!! |
 | Hehe "dragon katol lamok ay ciguradong teypok" |
 | Hahaha..that's pretty wicked! :P Awesome. :P |
 | From the looks of it, all the hype on this commercial has slowly died down. Even the blog site dedicated to the Coke angel isn't receiving any updates, well that's life in advertising. Soon, it will simply be just another commercial. Even after hours (more like a few minutes) searching on the internet about the coke angel, I still have to find anything about her. |
 | Unfortunately, the 2 posters of the Coke Angel along EDSA located in Guadalupe has already been removed. I guess this is the end of the Coke Angel. |
 | My correction, the billboard is up again. They must have pulled it down yesterday due to the heavy rains and the typhoon warning. |
